headlinesIt is essential to the success of your blog and email campaign to write eye catching headlines. People are very busy and value their time greatly. It is important to quickly convince them that an article is worth the time it will take to read.

There are many approaches you can take to writing an eye catching headline. The best strategy is to use all these approaches in order to keep your content fresh and interesting to your followers.

Ask a Question. Make your headline a question that will be answered within the post or email. This will attract the readers that have had the same question or want to know what the answer is. It is also straight forward and honest. Based on the question, readers will know exactly what the topic of the article is.

Make a Bold Statement. You want to make a statement that will peak the readers interest to the point they are willing to take the time to read the article. For example, let’s say you are writing an article based on a bad experience you had with a less than honest person. Your headline can be “I Got Scammed.” This will make people interested in finding out what happened to you…a professional. People are naturally curious about other people’s lives, and bold statement headlines often play into that curiosity.

Write a List. People love list articles. When you write a list article, the title should start with the number and then go into what the list is using your keywords. For example, you can have titles like; “5 Eye Catching Headlines” or “7 Secrets to Driving Traffic.” Avoid lists with 10 points though as it can sometimes seem like you have set out to mention 10 points regardless as to whether they are all of good quality and value.

Headlines make a reader’s first impression about an article. If you don’t make a good first impression, the reader is not going to waste their time reading the article. Once you have a great title, it is equally essential to offer great content. Having a track record of weak content will stop people from reading your articles no matter how good the headline is.
